General:
Perennial, somewhat succulent herb from a fibrous root; stems decumbent or spreading, branching from the base, glabrous, rooting from nodes, 5-30 cm tall.

Leaves:
Basal leaves linear to lanceolate or oblong, entire or with a few coarse teeth, 1-6 cm long, 1-10 mm wide; stem leaves similar to the basal, becoming reduced upwards, unstalked with a sheathing, somewhat papery base.

Flowers:
Heads disciform, solitary on the ends of branches, the disk about 5-11 mm wide; involucres 2-3 mm tall; involucral bracts elliptic or oblong, glabrous, in 3 subequal series; marginal flowers in a single series, corolla lacking; disk flowers bright yellow; receptacles with achene stipes persistent.

Fruits:
Achenes of the marginal flowers conspicuously winged, stalked; pappus lacking.
